  • Print and fill out the Patient Intake Forms
  • Bring your medical doctor’s prescription and any X-ray and/or MRI results as well as any documentation that will help explain your condition.
  • Wear comfortable and loose fitting clothing for the evaluation and examination portion of your visit.
  • Expect to spend a full hour which will include evaluation and treatment, and may include in-home exercises.
  • Please plan to pay for your visit using cash, check or a credit card.

What should I expect during my first visit?

  • First and foremost expect unparalleled customer service, not only at your first visit, but for as long as you are with us at Symmetry.
  • Upon meeting with the therapist, expect a period of questions and answers about your current and past medical conditions followed by an in-depth physical evaluation and any applicable treatment.
  • Based on your physician’s diagnosis, your therapist’s prognosis, and your personal goals, your therapist will organize an individual treatment plan.

What types of treatment will be offered?

  • Initial treatment plans usually consist of a combination of manual therapy (hands on treatment), therapeutic exercise, and patient education.
  • As you progress toward recovery and the need for manual therapy decreases, treatment will focus on therapeutic exercise.
  • Therapeutic exercise will be performed in our state-of-the-art Pilates studio.
  • An in-home exercise program for maintenance of the gains made during physical therapy will be provided when applicable.
  • All treatment is very patient-specific. It is designed, organized and performed by highly qualified therapists and instructors with the collective purpose of helping you reach your recovery goals in a safe and timely manner.

How often do I attend Physical Therapy?

  • Treatment is usually two to three times per week depending on your particular condition and your physician’s recommendations.
  • The overall duration of therapy depends on the severity of your injury and if indicated, post-operative progression.
  • Committing to your own recovery by attending therapy regularly and maintaining your in-home exercise program can have a dramatic effect on your recovery time and successful rehabilitation outcome.
  • We make every effort to help you reach your goals in a timely manner by setting up advance appointment times after your first visit to help keep scheduling consistent.

For our post-surgical patients…

  • You will be given an in-home treatment program with advice on how to manage your surgical wounds, reduce pain and position your body to protect healing tissue.
  • You may also be given an in-home program of stretches and exercises which are vital to the success of your rehabilitation. They can help ensure that you’re making progress in between physical therapy treatments which can help speed up your recovery.
